VIDEO: Port Arthur police seeking man — “Bubba” — linked to June 28 fatal shooting

Port Arthur Police Department officers released video of a man they believe is connected to the killing of a local man last week.

Eric Marrs, 38, was shot June 28 and died the next day while in the hospital.

Security video released Tuesday was taken at approximately 11:11 a.m. June 28 from the 3400 block of 32nd Street.

Officers located Marrs at a residence.

Police said investigation revealed a black male, who was seen leaving the area, was at the residence during the shooting.

Several cameras in the neighborhood showed the male was wearing a white shirt and white shorts with oversized slide sandals.

He has a dark skin tone, medium build with short hair. He is approximately 18 to 22 years old and may have tattoos near his wrist.

He goes by the nickname of “Bubba,” police said, and is known to be from the area.

Detectives need to speak with “Bubba” in reference to what he may have seen.

Police said the victim was able to provide authorities with some information about the gunman, saying he goes by the name Bubba.

Investigators are unsure of the motive as the victim is now deceased, PAPD Det. Mike Hebert said last week.

The victim and police did converse before the victim’s death but it is unclear how much information was shared, and Hebert said they would not release this information, if available, as the shooting remains under investigation.

If you have any information on the identity of the male, call the Criminal Investigation Division at 409-983-8624 or 409-983-8678.

If you know this suspect’s identity or have any other information on this or any other crime, call Port Arthur Police at 409-983-8600 or Crime Stoppers of SETX at 409-833-TIPS (8477).
